WilmaWilmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11567852299401292317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2202326505968006398.post-66677537274911704842018-01-06T19:17:54.450+01:002018-01-06T19:17:54.450+01:00He Phil & Niel,

It's less complicated as expected and on the other hand we are amazed all the time. Sorry, for the late response, we had busy days in the Netherlands so far!
Formalities in Japan are not that complicated. People are very helpful and officials bring translations or use google translate. One thing however is important: keep in mind that for closed ports you need special permission, not matter whether it's a port of entry or not. And a minor issue is we informed the coast guard up forehand by mail, but they seem to react only on fax...... They say Japan is very modern?
What are your plans? We entered in the small islands 500 miles south of Tokyo named Osagawara – nice, lovely nature and a small community - and sailed to Wakayama – an open port, ideal for entry, but the very friendly harbour employees don’t speak one word except Japanese. If you want to do a similar trip, keep in mind the current south of Japan is strong to the east. Next time I would sail westerly up to around 32N 134E first and them with the current and not closed haul sail into the inner sea. It’s similar when you sail from Tonga to New Zealand….

Safe sailing,
Jacomine & Roel
Bemanning van TARAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04821422500472408125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2202326505968006398.post-1138844892034899682017-12-27T01:12:05.802+01:002017-12-27T01:12:05.802+01:00Mu e-mail is DrPKellett@gmail.comMu e-mail is DrPKellett@gmail.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11028270908154333123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2202326505968006398.post-63366595863694247732017-12-27T01:11:34.970+01:002017-12-27T01:11:34.970+01:00We are sailing to Japan in April. Lovely, happy ladies, they visit American high schools that have high ratings, one Jane was an English teacher, she spoke the only English, the other ones were psychology high school teachers, Lucy, Mary and Beauty, their "English" names. they all gave me a gift and yes, saying "good bye" was hard, even we had just met. Know the "feeling" Enjoy your stay. The City of Greenfield has a sister city Kukuda Japan. We have several auto parts factories in Greenfield and children from Japan and vice versa children from Greenfield exchange visits. On our Pennsy walking/ bike trail, we have a Japanese area! Small world. Are you planning on going to Holland? When?
